Visual Art Standards

NGAS (Next Generation Art Standards)
NAEA   (National Art Education Association)

We at The Drawing Zoo are very proud to be able to align with NGAS and NAEA standards.
We use both traditional and contemporary exercises to improve young artists' skills.

Traditional- drawing from life, starting with general shapes and working up to details, draw what you see and not what you think.
Contemporary- multi sensory learning. We convey information by letting the artists experience touch, movement (tactile and kinesthetic elements) on top the traditional sight and hearing.

The Drawing Zoo fits into common core classrooms because we simultaneously present, connect with students who respond by creating art.creative practices.jpg
How does The Drawing Zoo meet this requirements?

Imagine- Students and teachers alike have preconceived notions about the animals'  anatomy and demeanor. Those ideas may be expressed on the page.
Investigate & Construct- After closely observing the animals with sight and touch, the artists will alter or "redo" their drawings to more accurately portray the animals.
Reflect- The artists reflect on how this exercise can be applied to art related jobs.
